BURBANK, Calif. - The Los Angeles coroner’s office says “The Lost Boys” actor Corey Haim is dead at 38.

Coroner’s Lt. Cheryl MacWillie said Wednesday that Haim died at 2:15 a.m. at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank. She said an autopsy will determine the cause of death and there are no other details.

Police learned of the death Wednesday when staff at the hospital called authorities, said Sgt. Frank Albarren of the Los Angeles Police Department's North Hollywood Station.

"It was an apparent overdose," Albarren said. "Unknown what type of medication."

PEOPLE magazine reports on its Web site that Haim was found unresponsive at his Southern California apartment. His mother was said to be with him at the time.

The Canadian-born Haim became a teen heartthrob with the 1986 film “Lucas” and 1987’s “The Lost Boys.”

His first role was in the 1984 hit “Firstborn,” in which he played a young child caught up in a family war. He then appeared in the 1985 television movie “A Time to Live.”

In recent years, he appeared in the A&E reality TV show “The Two Coreys” with his friend Corey Feldman. It was canceled in 2008 after two seasons.

Actor Corey Haim, 38, was pronounced dead at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, Calif., Wednesday morning after an apparent overdose, police said.

Police learned of the death, which occurred between 4 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, when staff at the hospital called authorities, said Sgt. Frank Albarren of the Los Angeles Police Department's North Hollywood Station.

"It was an apparent overdose," Albarren said. "Unknown what type of medication."

The Canadian-born Haim shot to fame in the 1980s after starring in several teen films, including "The Lost Boys," "Lucas" and "License to Drive." Most notably, he collaborated numerous times with Corey Feldman, and the pair were dubbed "The Two Coreys." They starred in an A&E reality show with that name from 2007 to 2008, PEOPLE reports.

New Name

Well as many of you have found out I have changed the name to my blog. I felt that it really was not about my boyfriend and I as it was about much more. I was not doing an justice to the family and friends that I tend to write about every once in a while by still having a name that was just for us. I feel now that I can include any and everyone. I am the only that blogs. Rudy does not/ hates the idea of blogging. I feel that it is a great way to let all of your days frustration out and a great tool to let all family members know what you are up to.

Police presence increases at North High after rumors of gun

About 300 North High School students stayed home today after rumors swirled over the weekend that a student planned to bring a gun to school in the wake of a fight late last week, according to the Sheboygan Area School District.
Police have also said they stepped up security at the school after dozens of parents called to report the rumor.
Parents of the absent students cited the rumor when calling in for their children, said Diane Wilcenski, district assistant superintendent of student and instructional services. The missing students account for about 20 percent of the North High enrollment.
Capt. Steve Cobb of the Sheboygan Police Department said police as of this morning had not identified the source of the rumor.
“There was a rumor that started Friday and we have not been able to substantiate it either through the police department or through the school district,” he said. “I’ve heard reports that it’s on social networking sites and being texted quite a bit.”
Sheboygan police have said the fight occurred about 11:30 a.m. Thursday between two male students, ages 16 and 17. The 16-year-old was hospitalized after the altercation, receiving 10 stitches and treatment for a broken nose.
Police have arrested a 14-year-old boy who was allegedly involved in the attack and are still looking for the 17-year-old and a 15-year-old boy, said Capt. James Veeser.
School officials have said the students involved have gang ties, but it is not clear how the fight started.
Cobb said at this point the gun report is only a rumor, so police are not advising parents to keep anyone out of school. He declined to detail the extra security precautions police are taking.
